The client wished to transform their home 1940's home into a place which reflected their lifestyle and, critically, aesthetics. Their taste was for modern with clean lines, external geometries and a play of voids and solids and sunlight and shadow. The project involves three major elements:
-a rear addition which creates three spaces; a basement craft/bedroom; a first floor dining and living space; and a second floor master bedroom suite
-a roof deck utilizing the existing garage flat roof
-a ridge connecting the deck to the master bedroom suite.
Other key features include a new roof massing, all new siding and windows, relocated kitchen and an urban courtyard.
