Private Residence

Madison, WI

This kitchen was self-designed and self-built by owner/architect Todd Barnett. The existing kitchen presented to Barnett upon his purchase of his condominium was a hybrid of the original 1928 construction and two renovations, complete with a carpeted floor.  The new design features the original maple floor exposed and renewed, a slate counter built from salvaged panels, a full tile back-splash and a custom built wine rack.

A combination of direct and indirect lighting provides for a bright space, particularly valuable during the long Wisconsin winter evenings.

This vintage 1998 project was published in local and national journals.. The only changes since that time include new LED downlighting. And better cooking skills!
